Gianluigi Buffon has named his top five goalkeepers in the world – and has surprisingly left out David De Gea.

The Juventus goalkeeper was asked to list his top five ahead of Juventus’ Champions League clash with Real Madrid on Wednesday evening.

And the 40-year-old strangely overlooked De Gea, despite the Spaniard’s sublime performances for Manchester United over the last few seasons.

Buffon, however, didn’t completely snub the Premier League contingent as both Manchester City’s Ederson and Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois made his list.

‘Not taking into account Italian keepers, I would say [Jan] Oblak, [Keylor] Navas, [Marc-Andre] ter Stegen, Ederson, [Manuel] Neuer and Courtois,’ said Buffon.

‘I hope I did not forget anybody.’

Earlier this week, Ter Stegen gave his own take on the top five goalkeepers in the world and included De Gea in his list.

The Barcelona goalkeeper also named Alisson in his top five following the Brazilian’s stunning saves for Roma this season.
