Barcelona players raged with one another on the flight home from Italy, according to reports.

The Spanish giants crashed out of the Champions League at the quarter-final stage after a stunning comeback from Roma.

Roma needed to score three without reply against Barcelona in the second leg after losing the first game 4-1 at the Nou Camp last week.

Goals from Edin Dzeko, Daniele de Rossi and Kostas Manolas inspired a remarkable result for Roma, but dumped Barcelona out.

And the plane ride home was full of ‘anger’ and also ‘sadness’, according to Spanish outlet Sport.

The Barcelona squad flew back to Spain and although they landed at 3am, no player slept on the trip home.

Barcelona’s bitter rivals Real have won the Champions League two seasons in a row and are now the outright favourites to complete the hat-trick.

Real play Juventus in the second leg of the quarter-final on Wednesday night and have a three goal lead.

Barcelona’s stars blame themselves and their own mistakes for their Champions League exit, and the inquest is likely to continue for several weeks.

Michael Owen also thinks Barcelona were the architects of their own downfall, insisting playing Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez in the same team was a major issue.

‘It is incredible. When we look at the stats and everything that it tells us it is incredible, but your eyes don’t lie,’ Owen said on BT Sport.

‘We looked at the game in the first leg… we’ve watched Barcelona for a number of months now and I’m not sure — even though they haven’t conceded many — I’m not sure you can not concede when you’ve got two strikers that don’t put anything into defending.

‘They are basically defending with eight outfield players against eleven and I’m not sure you can do that at the highest level.

‘You could argue that Roma aren’t at the highest level. There are teams that will exploit that even more. But no more, because Barca are out.’
